Each week a member of the #JWiT2016 team introduces themselves to tell us how they #DaretoTech. Connect with us!
I joined JWIT because….
Technology has always been a big part of my life. I started programming when I was in high school and remember being one of the only girls in my class. I stuck with it all four years and sadly watched the number of girls dwindle. This helped make me feel comfortable being “one of the guys.” However, as a woman I don’t have to be “one of the guys” if I want to succeed. I want to see more women in leadership positions, particularly within tech. That’s exactly JWiT’s goal. JWiT is a great group of people who share a similar passion as I do – I had to get involved!
I #DareToTech by…
Building software products that help solve people’s problems. Prior to pursuing my MBA, I was a software developer. In my first job, we provided clients with customized solutions, focusing on business process automation. I got to meet with the project stakeholders and work with them to build a solution that would save them time so they can focus on other parts of their job. It was eye-opening to see all the different solutions we could make that had an impact. Seeing how quickly technology grows, I look forward to seeing how it can make our lives easier in the future.
